Festival of Whales

Grab your binoculars and sunscreen! Each year Dana Point hosts The Festival of Whales in honor of the magnificent sea creatures that frequent our waters. Gray Whales make their way past Orange County during their annual 10,000 mile migration starting in November through March. Gather your whale-loving pod and enjoy the festival fun!

Dana Point is considered to be the Whale Watching Capital of the World! Visitors come from all over Southern California to celebrate the migration of the Gray Whales as they grace the coast. This festival brings ocean awareness and offers a load of activities for everyone in the family.

Things to Do:

Magical Migration Parade – Kick off the festival with giant sea animal floats and marching bands.

Whales, Tails & Ales Street Fair – Activities include: pet costume contests, vendor booths, inflatables for the kids, live music and entertainment, craft beer, classic boat and car shows, sand sculpting… the list goes on!

Sailing and Standup Paddle Board Lessons – This is your chance to get out on the water and learn to sail or paddle around.

Whale Watching – If watching these magnificent sea mammals from the land isn’t enough, book a whale watching excursion to get an up close look.

Mark your calendar and cross off an item on the bucket list! The Festival of Whales is the perfect addition to your OC itinerary when staying at San Clemente Cove, San Clemente Inn, or Capistrano Surfside Inn.
