Get Your “Just Deserts” Shopping in Palm Spring & Las Vegas

If you’re in the mood to splurge, get yourself to Palm Springs or Las Vegas! These two destinations have everything from premium outlets to high-end retailers, and each mall puts its own spin on the shopping experience. Here are a few places we love to visit when we’re in the desert.

Palm Springs

Palm Canyon Drive

Palm Canyon Drive runs right through the heart of Palm Springs, making it a not-to-miss stop on your vacation itinerary. The Uptown Design District in the north is known for its eclectic home furnishings, including midcentury steals and artsy modern decor. Downtown features regional specialties and resort wear.

El Paseo

Palm Springs has always been a favorite destination among the rich and famous. It’s no wonder, then, that nearby Palm Desert is home to one of the swankiest shopping malls around. Even if you’re not in the market for a $500 pair of shoes, it’s worth stopping by for the more down-to-earth shops or the weekly art walk.

Desert Hills Premium Outlets

Looking for a deal? The Desert Hills Premium Outlets are located just outside of Palm Springs in Cabazon. Here you’ll find 180 retailers, including many high-end brands, all offering their wares at a deep discount. If you love the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, you’re in for a treat—this mall is owned by the same company but is twice the size of the one in Carlsbad.

The River at Rancho Mirage

Half the fun of shopping is the experience. And at The River at Rancho Mirage, that experience includes beautiful landscaping and the relaxing sound of water flowing through the manmade river. Spend the day browsing trendy boutiques or tasting wine. Then enjoy an alfresco dinner at one of several restaurants that overlook the water.

Las Vegas

Fashion Show

“The Entertainment Capital of the World” doesn’t do anything half-heartedly, and shopping is no exception. Fashion Show on the Strip is enormous and fun, with live runway shows all weekend long. For all the hype, you’ll find a surprisingly average selection of retailers, including many of your favorites from home.

Town Square

Town Square offers the best outdoor shopping in Las Vegas. But that’s not the only draw. This kid- friendly mall has an elaborate playground and waterpark for your little ones. Spend the day browsing your favorite stores. Then let your kids frolic in a tree house or wind their way through a hedge maze. Numerous dining options are only steps away.

The District at Green Valley Ranch

If you need a break from the Strip—and let’s be real, we all do now and then—consider driving outside of Vegas to The District at Green Valley Ranch in Henderson. This quaint shopping center features cobblestone streets and wide open grassy areas for a completely different vacation experience. What the mall lacks in size it makes up for in charm.
The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace

For an over-the-top afternoon, look no further than The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace. The retailers here are decidedly high-end, but the talking statutes and exotic fish aquarium make this a must-see regardless of whether you’re interested in a VIP shopping experience or not. If you’re hungry, pop into one of The Forum’s many restaurants.
