Before Summer's End: San Diego Has Plenty to Do Names Top Five Things to do in August

Carlsbad, CA (July 2009) - has come up with a list of places to play in San Diego before the summer is over. According to Hannah Zulueta, Business Development Manager of the popular timeshare vacation rental site, the idea is to remind visitors to San Diego they still have a chance to enjoy "America's Finest City."

"We saw that SignOn San Diego had created a top "25 things to do before summer's end" list and zoned in's top five," she says. "We surveyed our traveler's and found out that there were some hidden tourist niche's that even frequent traveler's to San Diego had missed out on."

For folks staying in the Carlsbad area in north San Diego County, the new Wild Animal Park Flight Line is getting lots of attention. Rhinos, Zebras, Lions, Wildebeests and more are visible from the 2/3 mile zip line that lets visitors glide over the San Pasqual Valley animal and plant preserve.

If it's too hot to play outside, The New Children's Museum, located in San Diego's vibrant down town is a ferry ride away from Coronado. While parents may enjoy the atmosphere of the famous Gaslamp District, kids can paint cars, poke fingers, run and play and crawl at the recently opened facility.

Surfing and San Diego just naturally go together, and with the World Body Surfing Competition off the Oceanside Beach and Pier (August 22-23)'s Carlsbad resorts put guests up front and personal. And the best part, says Hannah Zulueta, is "it's free to watch! It's what San Diego is all about."

Most visitors who are in town love to visit San Diego's Balboa Park. After a day of exploring the museums, visiting the zoo or at the beach, they say an ideal time to enjoy the park is late afternoon. Twilight in the Park's live music has been a mainstay of park events for nearly 30 years. Concerts run through August 27 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m.

"Of course," says Hannah Zulueta, "you can't beat the races in Del Mar. That's always a favorite and most often at the top of our 5 Best Things to Do in August in San Diego."
