While at Pinetop, visit Nearby Fort Apache, an Army outpost established in 1870 with more than 20 buildings to wander through on a self-guided or guided tour. IN winter, Sunrise Park Resort offers skiing in the White Mountains with 65 runs and separate cross country ski trails. Venture a bit farther to explore Casa Malpais National Historic Landmark built in 1250 A.D. and inhabited by the Mogollon.
