Its care, protection, and preservation are shared by the Pagosa Ranger District, USDA Forest Service and the public, who contribute through tour fees, donations, and purchase of items from the Chimney Rock Visitor's Center.
The Pioneer Museum
The Pioneer Museum is located at the corner of 1st and Pagosa Streets, on the east side of Pagosa Springs near the bridge. The displays depict life in the area from the 1890s to the early 1900s. Step back in time and visit a dentist's office, a barber shop, a general store and a country schoolroom. Other displays include a blacksmith shop, a typical early 1900 kitchen and logging and ranching equipment.
